About Bhadrachalam Temple

Bhadrachalam temple was constructed in 17th century by a great devotee of Lord Rama named Bhaktha Ramadas. In this temple, Lord Sri Rama has appeared as a self manifested deity (swayambhu). His divine form appears with sankham, chakram, a bow and arrow in his four hands along with Mother Sitha and Lakshmana. The holy river Godavari flows around this pilgrimage. According to Bramha Purana, a devotee taking darsan of Lord Sri Rama, bathing in Godavari, performing charity, meditation, yajnas and thadiyaradhana (annadanam) will be 10 million times more fruitful in Bhadrachalam than in any other holy place. Millions of devotees attend the Sri Sitha Rama Kalyanam which is celebrated grandly with pomp and splendor annually on Sri Rama Navami day.

HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji’s Rama Kratu Sthu:pa

HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji established two Sri Rama Krathu sthupas or pillars in Bhadrachalam temple. These Rama Krathu sthupas were built to re-establish the greatness of Lord Sri Rama and to create awareness about Srimad Ramayana. HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji performed Sri Rama Krathus at 108 places by lighting a jyothi on the first day and using that fire for all the yajnas continuously for nine years. These yajnas were performed all around India and Nepal.

About Asramam

HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji had an ardent desire to provide free sathvik prasadam and lodging to all the visiting pilgrims. This endeavor was called Ramanuja Kutam. To fulfill HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji’s vision, HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji established an asram in April 1998 near the temple. On November 30th 1998, Ramanuja Kutam started full-fledged thadiyaradha services to all the pilgrims. For the convenience of pilgrims, a new asramam building was constructed in 2011.

Nearby Places ToVisit

Rama along with Sitha and Lakshmana spent their exile in this spot in Dandakaranya. Sage Agasthya selected this spot for them to stay. Today, wonderful setups showing their stay have been created taking the visitors back to that age to experience the moments. One can see the foot prints of Sita devi, Mosaic of Maarecha in the guise of golden deer and Ravana in the guise of Sanyasi for Bhikshatana. Also found in the vicinity are Sita Vaagu-where she had bathed and collected the turmeric and Kunkum from near by stones and the marks of her saree on the rock near Sita Vaagu. These are all the visiting places for the piligrims. As Ravana kidnapped Sita, the deity at Parnashala is called Sokarama. The tracks of the chariot of Ravana while kidnapping sita can be seen on the mountain on the other side of the river bank at Parnashala temple. It is 35 km away from Bhadrachalam.
This place is situated from 2 km away from Bhadrachalam. According to Itihasas, the bird Jatayuvu, a devotee of Rama obstructed Ravana while he was proceeding on the chariot after kidnapping Sita. After the fearful battle between Ravana and Jataayuvu, the injured bird had waited at this place for Rama’s arrival. A wing of this bird fell at Rekkapalli, about 55 km from here, in V.R. Puram Mandal.
Here Rama is called the Atmarama. The story reveals that Rama killed 14,000 demons headed by the brothers Khara and Dushana. As the village was said to be built upon the ashes of these demons, the place is named after as Dummugudem.
This place is situated about 55 km downstream from Bhadrachalam on the banks of Godavari. The deity of Yoga Rama Temple is on a hill and is named as Ramagiri a place where river Shabari meets Godavari.
It is a place 5 Kms away from the sacred town Bhadrachalam, where springs of hot water could be traced on the river bank when we dig a pit at any place in this area. It is believed that the divine trios (Brahma Vishnu Maheswara) had their dips in winter season according to Brahma Purana.
This is one of the most ancient temples of Bhadrachalam and holds significance as this temple is dedicated to Sri Govinda Raja Swamy. It is located in one of the main centres of the town known as Tatagudi Centre.
