CELEBRATING MILLINNIUM BIRTH CELEBRATIONS OF SOCIAL REFORMER SRI RAMANUJACHARYA

SAMATHA SNANAM ON AUGUST 19TH 2016, ON THE GHATS OF KRISHNA RIVER.

ALL ARE INVITED.

Samatha Snanam (Holy Bath with All) during Krishna Pushkaram in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Krishna Pushkaram resembles Kumbha Mela and is a festival of River Krishna, which occurs once in 12 years. The Pushkaram is observed for a period of 12 days and lakhs of people from all sections of society take holy bath in the river.

Commemorating the millennium birth celebrations of social reformer Sri Ramanujacharya and following the Mahatma Gandhi philosophy of eradicating untouchability, His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, from the same lineage, is organizing holy bath program along with 100,000 socially backward caste people (Schedule castes and tribes).

The customs, traditions and names of scheduled caste and tribe’s brothers and sisters trace back to Sri Ramanuja’s time where they were provided entry to the temples by him and treated equally.

Sri Ramanuja, a Pioneer of Equality, has been an inspiration to many prominent leaders and revolutionary thinkers such as Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhiji who had a big positive impact on the society.

After Sri Ramanuja’s period of time and due to foreign invasion and geographical disturbances, the disparity seeped in again. In spite of that, they kept themselves connected to Sri Ramanuja’s tradition and philosophy alive in their lifestyle and customs.

The need of the hour is to embrace them, treat them equally and live up to the values given by Sri Ramanuja.

Keeping these traditions alive, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji is organizing a Holy Bath to revive Sri Ramanuja’s philosophy of equality.

WE WELCOME EVERYONE TO JOIN THIS UNIQUE AND HOLY BATH.
